Best Windows 10 2-in-1s

Surface Pro 4

Screen size: 12.3-inch | Resolution: 2048 x 1536 | CPU: 6th Gen Intel Core m3, i5, or i7| Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 520 | RAM: 4/8/16GB | Storage: 128/256GB | Rear camera: 8MP | Front camera: 5MP

  • Screen
  • Performance
  • Improved Type Cover

  • Type Cover sells separately
  • Battery could be better

Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 is definitely the most quality Windows 10 tablet in the market right now. If you’re looking for a tablet to replace your laptop, look no more, because the newest member of the Surface Pro family is the best option.

Surface Pro 4 features extremely responsive and sensitive touchscreen, so you basically can use it for any kind of work, from writing to painting and designing. It comes with the sixth generation of Intel processors (m3, i5 and i7 options are available to purchase in Microsoft Store), and 8GB of RAM, so it will perform even the most demanding tasks without a problem.

Surface Pro 4 type cover is also vastly improved compared to previous models, but unfortunately, Microsoft sells it separately, so you’ll have to pay another $100 for it. Another thing that could be better is a battery life, as Surface Pro 4’s battery hasn’t improved much compared to Surface Pro 4.

All in all, if you’re looking for a powerful device that can meet all your demands, Surface Pro 4 is a perfect choice, as Microsoft did a really good job with this device. When it comes to price, you can purchase the Intel Core i5 version it for about $900, which is a good deal, compared to the next device on our list, and Microsoft’s another big innovation of 2015, Surface Book.

Surface Book

Screen size: 13.5-inch | Resolution: 3000 x 2000 | CPU: 6th Gen Intel i5 or i7| Graphics: Intel HD graphics 520; Nvidia GeForce graphics | RAM: 8/16GB | Storage:128/256/512GB/1TB | Rear camera: 8MP | Front camera: 5MP

  • Stunning design
  • Easily detachable keyboard
  • Performance

  • Battery life could be better
  • Comes with a few system issues

Surface Book is Microsoft’s first ever laptop, but the company did a great job with it. Although it primarily serves as a laptop, it has a detachable keyboard, which makes this device a premium tablet, as well. It features an amazing 13.5-inch screen with the resolution of 3000 x 2000, and 3:2 aspect ratio, which is better than on most Ultrabooks.

Surface Book is probably one of the best designed Windows 10 devices ever. When it’s used as a laptop, also known as the Clipboard, it is the most powerful and one of the thinnest Windows 10 computers in the world. Users who already had an opportunity to use this tablet report that it features a few bugs and issues, but Microsoft is working tirelessly on updates, and a fix is available soon after the problem is reported.

It’s, however, one of the most expensive Windows 10 devices in the market, but when you look at the possibilities of this device, and if you have the budget, you won’t be disappointed.

Samsung Galaxy TabPro S

Screen size: 12-inch | Resolution: 2160 x 1440 | CPU: 6th Gen Intel M3| RAM: 4GB | Storage: 128/256GB | Rear camera: 5MP | Front camera: 2MP

The most specific thing about this device is that it’s the first ever Windows 10 device manufactured by Samsung. And since Samsung is one of the biggest tech companies in the world, expectations are automatically high. Samsung Galaxy TabPro S should be Surface Pro 4’s competitor, with slightly less powerful features that some models of Microsoft’s device. It will run sixth generation of Intel’s Core m3 processors, along with 4GB of RAM.

Samsung Galaxy TabPro S should be 6.3 mm thick, which is 26 percent slimmer than Surface Pro 4. It also will have a 12-inch Super AMOLED display, with a screen resolution of 2160 x 1440. The device comes with a keyboard, which is another plus compared to Pro 4, but will have an only 5-megapixel rear camera.

Release date and pricing plan have yet to be announced, and since users and reviewers didn’t have an opportunity to deeply test this tablet, we can’t tell you much about how it works, and what are its pros and cons. However, we hope that Samsung will meet the expectations with this device, but it doesn’t have to be the case since we had a lot of, let’s say disappointments from major companies. But, let’s just wait until the device is released.

Alcatel Plus 10

alcatel plus windows 10

Screen size: 10.1-inch | Resolution: 1,280 x 800| CPU: Intel Atom x5 Z8350 1.92GHz| RAM: 2GB | Storage: 32GB | Rearcamera: 5MP | Front camera: 2MP

Alcatel Plus 10 is a perfect example of a budget Windows 10 hybrid device. It offers nothing spectacular, but comes with a lower price than its rivals, which could be a deal breaker for those unwilling to spend a lot on their new Windows 10 gadget.

It comes with a basic plastic design, without any interesting features. Since the device is pretty small for a Windows 10 hybrid, the keyboard is also pretty serried, and typing might fell awkward. Screen resolution is also below standard, with just 1,280 x 800 pixels, and brightness could be better, as well. It is powered by Intel Atom x5 Z8350 processor, and has 2GB of RAM, so it should get the job done of users that are not so demanding. However, it features good connectivity options, with

Alcatel Plus 10 will start to ship in June this year, for the price of €349, which is more affordable than some other devices from its range. Although it doesn’t offer spectacular performances or design for a Windows 10 hybrid, it’s still a solid value for the money, and it should attract budget customers.

Huawei Mate Book

huawei matebook windows 10 hybrid

Screen size: 12-inch | Resolution: 2,160×1,440| CPU: Intel Core M processor: Core M3/Core M7| RAM: 4/8GB | Storage:128GB to 512GB | Rear camera: No | Front camera: 5MP

When we put our hands on Huawei Mate Book for the first time, at this year’s MWC, it indeed felt like a premium device. It sports a 12-inch screen with the solid resolution of 2,160×1,440 and is 6.9mm thick, which is pretty good for a 12-inch device. This device irresistibly reminds us of iPad Pro with a folding keyboard case, a pressure-sensitive digital pen, and a fingerprint scanner on the side.

It will ship in three models, just like some other premium Windows 10 hybrids, with prices of $699 for a Core M3 processor and 4GB of RAM model, up to $1,599 for the full spec model with a Core M7 chip and 8GB of RAM. One bad thing about this device is that it doesn’t have a rear camera, and although a 5MP front camera is pretty solid, this tablet is not made for taking pictures.

It supports a pressure-sensitive digital pen with 2,048 levels of pressure sensitivity, which is twice as Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 offers. The stylus also features a laser pointer, which is great for conference meetings. With all these features, accessories and specs, the Huawei Mate Book will be a pretty good option for business users who want a cheaper alternative for Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 device.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1

Screen size: 12-inch | Resolution: 2160 x 1440 | CPU: 6th Gen Intel Core M| RAM: 16GB | Storage: 1TB

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 is another interesting tablet we’ll see in 2016. But this device isn’t just a regular 2-in-1 convertible, because it supports a few add-ons, so you can use it as a projector, or 3D camera, which is definitely an innovation in the world of Windows 10 devices.

Unfortunately, these modules won’t come bundled with the ThinkPad X1. The 3D camera or additional battery/ports modules are $149, and the projector is even more at $279. We’re not sure how these features will be accepted by users, but they surely won’t be satisfied with the fact that they’ll have to buy additional modules separately.

Toshiba Satellite Radius 15

Screen size: 15-inch | Resolution4K 3840 x 2160 | CPU:2.4GHz Intel Core i7-5500U (dual-core, 4MB cache up to 3GHz with Turbo Boost) | Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 5500 | RAM:12GB | Storage: 512GB | Camera: 720p HD webcam

  • 4K Display
  • 12GB of RAM
  • Good value for money

  • Short battery life
  • Too heavy

The biggest advantage of this unusually large, 15-inch Windows 10 convertible is its stunning 4K screen, with the resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. So if you want to watch movies on your tablet, or do some graphics design, you can’t go wrong with the Toshiba Satellite Radius 15.

When it comes to specs and performance, it doesn’t have so powerful processor, as it runs with Intel Core i7 dual-core processor, but it has amazing 12GB of RAM to cover that. One of its main disadvantages is that it doesn’t have a detachable keyboard, so using it in tablet mode may feel a little awkward. It’s also unusually heavy, which affects the tablet experience, as well.

However, this ‘giant’ is available for the great price of around $600, so if you know that you’re getting a device with a great UHD 4k display, and exceptional performances, this is indeed an amazing value for the money.

Lenovo Yoga 900

Screen size: 13.3-inch | Resolution: 3200 x 1800 | CPU: 2.5GHz Intel Core i7-6500U | Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 5500 | RAM:16GB | Storage: 512GB SSD

  • Good Display
  • Design
  • Performance

  • Driver software issues
  • Shallow keyboard

Lenovo Yoga Pro 900 is arguably the best Yoga device Lenovo made so far. It is powered by a sixth generation Skylake 2.5GHz Intel Core i7 and amazing 16GB of RAM, which is a notable improvement compared to the previous flagship devices from Yoga series. Because of its powerful performances and good design, Yoga 900 Lenovo’s competitor of Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

Lenovo Yoga 900 is a very-well designed convertible, and although the keyboard could be better, it offers really good user experience. Some users report that it may come with a few display driver issues, but this is a common thing in Windows 10, and developers are constantly working on this problem.

Surface Pro 4 is still a better option for business users, but if you’re looking for an extremely lightweight travel companion, with a great display, you definitely should take Lenovo Yoga 900 into consideration.

Dell Latitude 11 5000

Screen size: 10.8-inch | Resolution: 1920 x 1080| CPU: Intel Skylake Core M series| RAM: 4/8GB | Storage: 512GB SSD | Rear camera: 8MP | Front camera: 5MP|

Dell Latitude 11 5000 has yet to be released in February, and it is a successor of Dell’s old Venue 11 Pro tablet, so if you liked Venue 11 Pro, you’re going to love Latitude 11 5000. Both devices share the same design, but Latitude 11 5000 comes with improved specs.

First notable change is the addition of Intel’s sixth generation Skylake processor. Dell is using the Core M series, and the Latitude 11 5000 will be offered with Skylake-based Core M3 or M5 processors, 4GB/8GB of RAM and up to 512GB SSD storage. The biggest connectivity change is the addition of USB Type-C port, which replaced the micro USB port that was present on previous devices.

The Latitude 11 5000 2-in-1 will be available at a price around $500, and once it gets released, and users have an opportunity to try it, we’ll be able to give you more details about this device, and whether it should be on your ‘2-in-1s to buy in 2016’ list, or not.

HP Spectre x2

Screen size: 10.8-inch | Resolution: 1920 x 1080| CPU: 1.2GHz Intel Core m7-6Y75 (dual-core, 4MB cache, up to 3.1GHz with Turbo Boost) | RAM: 8GB | Storage: 512GB SSD | Rear camera: 8MP | Front camera: 5MP|

  • Design
  • Performance

  • Recessed kickstand

Speaking of Surface Pro 4 competitors, HP Spectre x2 is HP’s competitor of Microsoft’s latest device from the Surface family. HP Spectre x2 even has some advantages over Microsoft’s device, so let’s see what this device has to offer.

First thing first, it comes with a bundled keyboard, which is an immediate plus compared to Surface Pro 4. It also has a thinner frame, and more affordable price. HP Spectre’s Intel Core M7offers nearly as good performances as Surface Pro 4, but Microsoft’s device is still a better performer.

Of course, HP Spectre x2 is more affordable than Microsoft Surface Pro 4, so if you want a similar performer for a lower price, HP Spectre x2 is available for a price around $800, depending on the store.

Acer Aspire Switch 12 S

Screen size: 12.5-inch | Resolution: 3840 x 2160| CPU: Intel Core M processor | RAM: 4/8GB | Storage: 128/256B SSD

Acer Aspire Switch 12 S is another highly anticipated hybrid device we expect to be released in February. If Acer Aspire Switch 12 S meets the expectations, it will become one of the best convertible notebooks ever. It will be a premium home or work device, with an elegant design and a solid build quality.

Aspire Switch 12 S has a 4K display (3840 x 2160), and it is very thin, which makes using this device as a tablet really pleasant. We think it has the potential to become the best hybrid device Acer ever produced.

Of course, we can’t give you an exact analyze, because the device has yet to be publically available in February.

Update: The device is already available in different stores and it has a great success. We recommend you to consider it while choosing a 2-in-1 laptop and give it a try if you have the chance to test it.
